Resumen
The aim of this review is to provide an overview of the current scientific evidence concerning the role of stem cell transplantation in multiple myeloma. During the past decade, several new treatment options have become available, thereby questioning the role of stem cell transplantation for the management of multiple myeloma. This review focuses on these studies, demonstrating a benefit for autologous stem cell transplantation (auto-SCT). We also reviewed maintenance post auto-SCT and utility of allogeneic stem cell transplant.
