Abstrak ___________________________________________________________________ Cabai merupakan komoditas unggulan yang mempunyai nilai ekonomi sehingga banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia. Untuk mengimbangi laju peningkatan konsumsi cabai, Pemerintah melakukan impor cabai yang jumlah maupun nilainya semakin meningkat setiap tahun. Perkembangan produksi cabai cenderung mengalami kenaikan dari tahun ketahun. Namun apabila dilihat dari harganya dibandingkan dengan cabai impor, cabai lokal masih relatif lebih mahal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat efisiensi penggunaan faktor-faktor produksi pada usahatani cabai di Kecamatan Sumowono Kabupaten Semarang. Apakah penggunaan faktor-faktor produksi yang meliputi luas lahan, tenaga kerja, bibit dan pupuk sudah efisien atau belum efisien, sehingga dapat diambil keputusan apakah perlu dilakukan penambahan atau pegurangan input faktor produksi agar tercipta efisiensi, baik efisiensi teknis,harga maupun ekonomi. Alat analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah fungsi produksi dengan pendekatan frontier stokastik.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai efisiensi teknis masih di bawah 1 yaitu 0,93. Artinya usahatani cabai di Kecamatan sumowono Kabupaten Semarang yang dilakukan tidak efisien secara teknis. Nilai efisiensi harga sebesar 1,7 yaitu lebih dari 1 artinya belum efisien secara harga. Sedangkan nilai efisiensi ekonomi sebesar 1,58 yaitu lebih besar dari 1artinya belum efisien, ini menunjukkan bahwa usahatani cabai di Kecamatan Sumowono Kabupaten Semarang belum efisien secara ekonomi. Skala hasil usaha sebesar 0,906 yang berarti kegiatan usahatani cabai berada pada skala hasil yang menurun. Abstract ______________________________________________________________ Chili is a commodity that has economic value that is widely cultivated in Indonesia. To keep pace with the increased consumption of chili, The Government import a number of chili and its amount increasing every year . Development of chili production tends to increase from year to another year . But, when the price of local chili compared to imported one , locally chili is still more expensive. This study intend to analyze the efficiency of application of the production factors of on the farm in the district chili Sumowono Semarang regency . That is include land , labor , seed and fertilizer is efficient or not efficient , so that a necessary decision can be taken for adding or decreasing of the production factors in order to create efficiency , that is technical efficiency, economic efficiency, and price efficiency . Analysis tools used in this research is the production function with stochastic frontier approach.The results show the value of technical efficiency was below 1 that is 0.93 . That meaning chili farming in the district of Semarang District sumowono is technically inefficient . Price efficiency value of 1.7 is more than 1 means that the price has inefficient . While the value of the economic efficiency of 1.58 is greater than 1 that meaning infficient , this show that chili farming in the district of Semarang District Sumowono is economically inefficient . Scale business results at 0.906 which means chili farming activities are on a weak production scale
