Resumen
O presente artigo resulta de pesquisa sobre o Movimento dos Cabos e Soldados da Polícia Militar do Piauí, ocorrido em julho de 1997, que se contrapôs à norma legal, a qual proíbe aos policiais se manifestarem ou realizarem greves. Coloca em evidência as precárias condições de trabalho e de vida desses trabalhadores. Discute aspectos relativos à formação militarizada no cotidiano do policial, a defasagem da organização burocrática da instituição Polícia Militar e os rigores da disciplina militar na sua relação com o Movimento, destacando os significados dessa experiência para os policiais.Palavras-chave: Polícia, cidadania, democracia.MILITARY POLICE IN STRIKE: the meanings of collective action Abstract: This article results from a research on the movement of the corporals and soldiers of the Military Police of Piauíoccurred in July 1997 and was opposed to the legal regulations which prohibit the police from demonstrating or carrying out strikes. It points out the poor conditions of work and life of these workers. also discusses aspects of the militarized training in the daily lives of the police, the lag of the bureaucratic organization of the Military Police as an Institution and the rigors of military discipline in relation to the Strike Movement, it evidences the significance of this experience to the police.Key words: Police, citizenship, democracy.
