Mafia?s economic activities are not limited to illicit trafficking. They go beyond the scope of illegal affairs through the so-called ?criminal economy?, the reinvestment of revenues from criminal activities within the licit economy. Forms of economic non-cooperation can be very effective in countering them. The anti-mafia movement has already adopted critical consumption and boycott practices. The Italian anti-mafia legislation includes instruments aimed at affecting mafia?s assets as well as promoting the social re-use of confiscated properties, which represent a toolkit for implementing economic non-cooperation strategies.JEL codes: I31, K42, P51Keywords: mafia, organised crime, social re-use
