Annual and interannual variability analysis of the rainfall in Manuel Ribas region, Paraná state

Resumen

This paper discusses the annual and interannual variability of the rainfall and the hydric balance of Manuel Ribas area. The purpose is to identify the region natural characteristics in order to improve its agricultural development. The research lasted from 1966 to 1997. Based on the selected rainfall series several statistical calculations were done. The Thornthwaite and Mather method was used to analyze the hydric balance of the target area. Significant interannual variability was found mainly in El Niño and La Niña years.
