Tomasz Szczepanik

Resumen

The aim of this article is to present the current state of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, and to identify the advantages and disadvantages of such means of transport, as well as determine the benefits of this solution opportunities and risks for both courier companies and consumers for shipments. The article presents the means of transport used in the implementation of courier services. Presents characteristics and the current use of unmanned aerial vehicles as an example of innovation in the field of transport in courier services. Presented examples of companies that have begun testing and deployment of drones to the courier delivery. Unmanned airborne vehicles is an innovative solution in terms of transport services but courier in pregnancies developing. Barriers in the implementation of this solution are the high investment costs of courier companies in the fleet of drones, high shipping costs and to reduce the weight and volume of shipments. But above all, lacking a legal solution to the issue of delivery drones and the related provision of security to customers, third parties as well as the item itself.
