Resumen
A transformação sociocultural ao longo dos anos veio desmistificar a caracterização histórica do pai, contribuindo para a mudança constante do comportamento afetivo e da participação no período gestacional. Aliado a este contexto e às transformações em relação à condição de saúde dos homens, os profissionais da saúde perceberam a carênciade estudos e ações voltadas para a saúde deste grupo. Em 2008, o ministério da saúde implantou a política nacional de saúde do homem e, com base nesta iniciativa, foi desenvolvido o programa ?pré-natal masculino?, primeira ação que envolve a saúde do pai aliada à saúde materno-infantil. O presente artigo aborda uma nova forma de entender e vivenciar o papel masculino na gestação, expondo a importância da participação nesta fase para a saúde do homem e do bebê.Palavras-chave: Pré-natal masculino, saúde do homem, assistência pré-natal, paternidade, políticas de saúde.PRENATAL CARE FOR MEN: a new look at the man?s presence.Abstract: The socio-cultural transformation over the years has demystified the historical characterization of the father,contributing to the constant change of affective behavior and their participation during pregnancy. Allied to this context and to the transformations regarding men?s health condition, health professionals have noticed the lack of studies and actions for the health of this group. In 2008, the Ministry of Health implemented a national policy on men?s health and on the basis of this initiative the ?pre-natal male program? was developed, which is the first action that involves the father?s health combined with the maternal and the child?s ones. This article approaches a new way of understanding and experiencingthe male role in pregnancy, while indicating the importance of participation at this stage for both the man?s health and the baby?s health.Keywords: Male prenatal, man?s health, pre-natal care, fatherhood, health policies.
