Human resource management in a siege economy

F. M. Horwitz

Resumen

AbstractThere is a paucity of published work on the implications of a siege economy in South Africa on the management of human resources. Existing organizational policies and strategies may be inadequate in coping with rapid environmental change and a high degree of uncertainty. This paper focuses on an identification of extra- and intra-organizational demands which could confront the business sector and individual companies in the next three to five years. A critical analysis of these demands is offered. Recommendations and conclusions are provided in respect of the strategic adaptive responses required by organizations.
