Resumen

This paper presents the results of the application of the new edition of the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM 2000) to a Chilean Highway (Autopista del Sol). The results of the study permitted the development of both calibration tools and an adjusted speed-flow model for the analysis of the operation of chileanfreeways, and to compare them to the model proposed in HCM 2000. The results of the work show that a chilean freeway designed to the internationalstandards may be study and evaluated using the methodology proposed by the new Highway Capacity Manual (version 2000) although a djustment to thespeed ? flow models are recommended.
