Model of the Relationship between the Velocity Restitution Coefficient and the Initial Car Velocity during Collision

Resumen

This article contains the results of statistical research of velocity restitution coefficient variations when a motor car hits a concrete wall during crash tests performed by different researchers, for the purpose of deriving an equation of the relationship between the velocity restitution coefficient and the initial impact velocity. The derived expression is innovative as it has no prototype. The analysis of its adequacy has shown acceptable deviations from the calculated values of the velocity restitution coefficient obtained by other researchers.
