Resumen

In this paper the authors propose a new damage accumulation modelbased on an exponential approach for aluminum closed cell foam underfully reversed cyclic loading. The model developed need as an input, theinformation about the fatigue behavior of the material and the definitionof the failure criterion. In this research, the failure criterion consideredis the proposed by Ingraham et al. (2009), and the model to analyze thefatigue behavior is the well-known statistical Weibull model becausethis model allow us to us directly the total strain amplitude insteadof its plastic and elastic components to analyze the fatigue behaviorof the material. The model proposed it is a very simple mathematicalexpression that will allow us to model the damage accumulation levelonly as a function of the total strain amplitude. Finally, the proposedmodel has been validated through a comparison of the experimentaldamage accumulation curves, generated with the previous experimentaldata published by Ingraham et al. (2009), and the curve generated bythe proposed model. The results provide a very good fit between theproposed model and the experimental curves.
