Intelligent transport systems have an enormous potential in the sphere of optimizing transport modes usage, especially road transport. They contribute to the increase of road traffic safety. They allow to use the existing road infrastructure more productively by limiting the congestion on roads as well as improve the quality of transport services. The popularization of ITS affects positively on economy and minimizes the destructive influence on environment. ITS can help in effective road traffic management. However, only the unification of ITS in the UE will provide success.
