Resumen

The purpose of this work is to analyze, following sustainability parameters, a Corrala-type building of vernacular architecture located on Calle del Escorial 26 (Madrid) in order to then be able to compare it with a contemporary building that bases its design on Corrala-type architecture (vernacular) with direction in Plaza del General Vara de Rey 12 (Madrid), defining the elements and characteristics of both buildings. This study is carried out in order to determine what type of architecture of each building is better in the field of Sustainability, the vernacular or the modern one that bases its architecture on the vernacular and to determine what elements depend on so that one prevails over the other. Firstly, our building will be described: in the first part a technical file will be explained that contains descriptive documents of our study corridor (plans, structural definitions, general building data, etc ...) and in the second part will be developed, in a general way, the pathologies and changes that this building has suffered. Next, the climatological situation of the building will be studied, as the courtyard building is located in Madrid, it will be an analysis of the general characteristics of the Madrid climate. Then the historical context of the courtyard buildings will be analysed. Regarding this, an approach will be given from the point of view of their requirements, how their own physiological needs of the building as the social ones. This will be done while I place our study building in this analysis. Then we will study the design strategies of our courtyard buildings with the help of the "Climate Consultant" program. From this, we can classify the design strategies used and not used in summer and winter seasons, trying to deduce their strengths and weaknesses to propose an improvement of the design and their strategies for future buildings of this construction type. Finally, a current building with architecture and design based on those of our studied building, that is to say our courtyard building, will be proposed and described. Its objective, distribution, situation and sustainability will be briefly described, thus being able to compare it with the first building. From this comparison we can deduce the improvement in the sustainability of buildings of this nature.
