Resumen

Enterprise performance has direct influence on the very survival and development of an enterprise. The performance evaluation of shipping enterprise is often a multi-attribute decision-making problem with both quantitative and qualitative information under uncertain information. The assessment by existing traditional methods where only financial attributes are cited would no longer satisfy. By analyzing many classical methods such as economic value added, key performance index, balanced score card and the current performance evaluation method, an integrated model for performance evaluation of shipping enterprise is established and a multiple-criteria evidential reasoning approach is proposed to handle various types of basic indexes and uncertainty of evaluation information. Both the model and this approach are illustrated by the examples of Chinese shipping companies. The results consist of the performance distributions and the ranking of these shipping companies which demonstrate the condition of enterprise performance. At last, the application analysis shows that the evaluation model is reasonable and the mathematical approach is effective.
