Resumen

This research presents the transient torsional vibration due to cutting action of a propeller rope cutter. Therefore, a method to determine the safety diameter of connecting bolts was described regarding the fatigue strength of the propulsion system. The installation of the rope cutter does not significantly reduce the ship?s power performance or increase the structural vibration.
