Nitrogen fertilization of green beans for agroindustrial use in the central zone of Chile: preliminary indications.

Resumen

In order to optimize nitrogen nutrition of green beans for agroindustrial use in the central zone of Chile,Rodríguez?s Reasonable Method (2001) was adapted. The parameters considered in this study are: nitrogendemand by plants (D), soil nitrogen supply (S), nitrogen derived from fixation (NDF) and nitrogenfertilization efficiency (E). All of these parameters were estimated from field experiments conductedduring 2000 and 2001 which allowed the establishment of preliminary nitrogen fertilization rates forgreen beans. Seed inoculation treatments with effective strains of Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. phaseoliproduced bean yields not significantly different (P<0.01) from 70 kilos·ha-1 obtained with nitrogenfertilization. Con el objeto de optimizar la nutrición nitrogenadade porotos verdes para abastecer las agroindustriasde la zona central de Chile, se adaptó el MétodoRazonado de Rodríguez et al. (2001). Estimacionesde la demanda de nitrógeno de las plantas, delsuministro de nitrógeno del suelo y del nitrógenoderivado de la fijación simbiótica de Rhizobiumfueron obtenidas a partir de dos experimentos decampo realizados en las temporadas de los años2000 y 2001. Estas estimaciones incorporadas almodelo, permitieron establecer dosis preliminaresadecuadas de fertilización nitrogenada para estecultivo. Destaca el efecto positivo que ejerce la inoculaciónde las semillas de porotos con cepas efectivasde Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. phaseoli.Se comprobó, una vez más, que el poroto es unade las leguminosas comparativamente menos eficientespara asociarse al microsimbionte.
