Resumen
The article presents instruments of: merger, cartels and antitrust control. It presents the role of state and its influence on competition in the transport sector by granting the state aid. The results of European Commission research in this area are also presented. Transport sector has been divided into transport branches and companies? operations have been illustrated by the examples of cases handled lately by the European Commission, DG Competition.The objective of this article is to present and analyse the influence of the liberalisation of the transport on competition and behaviour of the firms operating in the EU. Apart from the use of one Polish document, it was prepared on the basis of foreign literature, most of the EU documentation and current english-language publications.
